4 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup sliced almonds
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 tablespoon freshly chopped chives
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Place Brussels sprouts in microwave safe dish and cover. Microwave on HIGH 7 minutes; stir halfway through cooking. Heat the butter in a fry pan until it turns nut brown. Add the almonds and toss to brown. Stir in extract. Add the Brussels sprouts, season with salt and pepper and toss. Cook for another 2 minutes. Garnish with chives and serve hot.

1/4 teaspoon celery salt
Pinch pepper
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

2 pounds Brussels sprouts, cut in half
3 tablespoons olive oil
salt and ground black pepper to taste
⅓ cup sliced almonds
2 ounces Manchego cheese, shredded
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 lemon, zested

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Toss Brussels sprouts in olive oil. Arrange on a baking sheet, cut-side down. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until Brussels begin to get tender, about 10 minutes. Remove from the oven; sprinkle with sliced almonds. Return to the oven and continue cooking until sprouts begin to crisp and brown on the edges and almonds are toasted, 15 to 20 minutes more.
