1/4 cup low-fat plain yogurt
Coarse salt and ground pepper
1/4 cup bulgur
1 can (15.5 ounces) chickpeas, rinsed and drained
1/2 pound ground beef chuck (95 percent lean)
1/3 cup roughly chopped mint leaves
Nonstick cooking spray
4 hamburger buns, split and lightly toasted

  • In a small bowl, mash feta with the back of a fork until smooth. Stir in yogurt and season with salt and pepper. Set aside.

Tips:

  • Use dried chickpeas: Dried chickpeas are more economical and healthier than canned chickpeas. To cook dried chickpeas, soak them overnight in a large bowl of water. Drain the chickpeas and rinse them thoroughly. Then, add the chickpeas to a large pot of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 1-2 hours, or until the chickpeas are tender. Drain the chickpeas and let them cool.
  • Use a food processor to make the burgers: A food processor will help you to create a smooth and even burger mixture. If you don't have a food processor, you can mash the chickpeas by hand using a fork or potato masher.
  • Add your favorite spices and herbs: The recipe included in the article is just a starting point. Feel free to add your favorite spices and herbs to create a burger that is tailored to your taste. Some good options include cumin, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and fresh cilantro.
  • Cook the burgers until they are golden brown: Cook the burgers over medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Serve the burgers on your favorite bun: Serve the burgers on your favorite bun with your favorite toppings. Some good options include lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, and tzatziki sauce.

Conclusion:

Mediterranean chickpea burgers are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional beef burgers. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. Whether you are a vegetarian or meat-eater, you are sure to enjoy these burgers.
