MASON JAR OVERNIGHT OATS RECIPE

Mason Jar Overnight Oats Recipe image

Make a week's worth of healthy breakfasts with mason jar overnight oats. They can be easily customized and use nut butter, rolled oats, milk, chia seeds, and fruit.

Provided by Jess Smith via Inquiring Chef

Categories     Breakfast

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

10 Tablespoons Almond Butter ((sub any nut butter))
5 teaspoons Chia Seeds ((optional))
2 1/2 cups Rolled or Old-Fashioned Oats
2 1/2 cups Milk ((use any type of milk you like - skim, 2%, almond, oat, coconut, etc.))
10 ounces Fruit, fresh or frozen
Honey ((optional))

Steps:

  • Set out five mason jars (I use 8 ounce but they are packed all the way to the top as in the photos; 16 ounce will give you more room to stir and add toppings; or use any other similar-sized container). Fill each jar with almond butter (2 Tablespoons / jar), chia seeds (1 teaspoon / jar), and oats (1/2 cup / jar).
  • Slowly pour milk over top, giving it time to fill in the spaces between the oats. (Note: Be sure that the oats are just barely covered with milk. You may need a little more or less than the amount listed.)
  • Top oats with frozen berries and a drizzle of honey (if using).
  • Put lids on the jars and transfer to the fridge. Refrigerate overnight and up to five days.
  • When you're ready to eat the oats, just pull them out of the fridge and dive in. You can stir everything together or eat the layers one at a time.

OVERNIGHT OATMEAL IN A JAR

Overnight Oatmeal in a Jar image

Saw this posted on Facebook and was intrigued so decided to give it a try. I was amazed at how simple and how good it is. This lends itself to so many different combinations. I've listed as it was posted but left out the banana and blueberries as didn't have it, added 1 teaspoon of vanilla and topped with walnuts. For those mornings when you know you'll be in a hurry, here's a breakfast that can be waiting in your fridge. The prep time does not include refrigeration overnight

i love oatmeal in the mornings this one tastes good and is good for you

Provided by Patsy Fowler

Categories     Other Breakfast

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/4 c oatmeal, uncooked old fashioned oats
1/3 c milk, skim i used almond
1/4 c low fat greek yogurt i also tried banana and raspberry non greek style
1 1/2 tsp chia seeds dried
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbsp raspberry jam, preserves or spread
1/4 to 1/3 c raspberries cut each berry in half or enough to fill iar

Steps:

  • 1. In a half pint jar add oats, milk, yogurt, chia seeds and raspberry jam. Put lid on jar and shake until well combined.
  • 2. Remove lid add raspberries and stir until mix throughout. Return lid to jar and refrigerate overnight or as long as 2 to 3 days. Eat chilled.

Tips:

  • Choose your oats wisely: Steel-cut oats will give you a chewier texture, while rolled oats will be softer and creamier. Quick-cooking oats will work in a pinch, but they'll be more mushy.
  • Use a variety of liquids: Dairy milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or water are all great options. You can even use a combination of liquids.
  • Sweeten to your liking: Honey, maple syrup, agave nectar, or sugar are all great options for sweetening your overnight oats. You can also add a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness.
  • Add your favorite mix-ins: Nuts, seeds, dried fruit, fresh fruit, yogurt, or even peanut butter are all great additions to overnight oats. Be creative and make it your own!
  • Don't overfill your jar: The oats will expand as they absorb the liquid, so be sure to leave some room at the top of the jar.
  • Enjoy your overnight oats cold or warm: They're delicious either way! If you want to warm them up, simply microwave them for 30 seconds to 1 minute, or warm them up in a saucepan over low heat.

Conclusion:

Overnight oats are a delicious, healthy, and easy breakfast option that can be made ahead of time. They're perfect for busy mornings or when you're on the go. With so many different ways to make them, you're sure to find a recipe that you love. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy breakfast, give overnight oats a try!
