JELLO POPCORN BALLS

Jello Popcorn Balls image

This recipe is from my uncle Jimmy. You can use any flavor / color jello for different holidays, etc. Times are a guess.

Provided by audraQ

Categories     Dessert

Time 25m

Yield 9 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 (3 ounce) package Jello gelatin
9 cups popped corn, unbuttered and unsalted

Steps:

  • Heat corn syrup and sugar to boiling.
  • Add Jello and stir until dissolved.
  • Pour over popped corn.
  • With buttered hands, mix and form into balls.
  • Cool on waxed paper.

Nutrition Facts : Calories 245.7, Fat 3.7, SaturatedFat 0.6, Sodium 68.5, Carbohydrate 55.1, Fiber 0.9, Sugar 29.4, Protein 1.6

Tips:

  • Choose the right popcorn. Not all popcorn is created equal. For popcorn balls, you'll want to use a popcorn that is light and fluffy, such as a white or yellow popcorn. Avoid using a heavy or dense popcorn, such as a black or red popcorn.
  • Pop the popcorn properly. Be sure to pop the popcorn according to the directions on the package. Overcooked popcorn will be tough and chewy, while undercooked popcorn will be too soft and mushy.
  • Use fresh ingredients. The fresher the ingredients, the better your popcorn balls will taste. Use real butter, pure vanilla extract, and good-quality marshmallows.
  • Don't overcook the sugar syrup. The sugar syrup should be cooked to a soft ball stage, which means that it will form a soft ball when dropped into cold water. If the sugar syrup is overcooked, it will be too hard and brittle.
  • Work quickly. Once the sugar syrup is ready, you need to work quickly to coat the popcorn. If you wait too long, the sugar syrup will start to harden and it will be difficult to coat the popcorn.

Conclusion:

Mary's Jello Popcorn Balls are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a sweet and crunchy snack that everyone will love. So next time you're looking for a fun and festive treat, give Mary's Jello Popcorn Balls a try!
