Categories     Lunch

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 17

5 lb pork spare ribs
1 tablespoon paprika
2 teaspoons coriander
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon chili flakes
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, finely diced
3 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
¼ cup balsamic vinegar
⅓ cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup water

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 300⁰. Combine the spices and brown sugar together, then rub all over the ribs. Wrap the ribs tightly in tin foil, then place on a baking sheet. Slowly roast the ribs for 2 - 2 ½ hours.
  • While the ribs cook, make your maple bbq sauce. In a sauce pot, heat the olive oil over medium low heat. Add the onions and garlic and sweat for 8-10 minutes, or until softened and translucent. Add the ketchup, worcestershire, vinegar, syrup, salt, and water. Bring the sauce up to a gentle boil, then reduce to a low simmer for 35 minutes, or until the sauce has darkened and thickened.
  • When the ribs are done, remove and unwrap the foil. To finish, grill the ribs on medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side, while brushing on the sauce to slightly caramelize. Serve with additional sauce on the side.
  • Enjoy!

Yield Serves 4

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup orange juice
4 garlic cloves, pressed
2 teaspoons grated orange peel
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crumbled
2 pounds baby back pork ribs (about 2 slabs)
1/4 cup maple syrup

Steps:

  • Combine first 5 ingredients in large baking dish. Add ribs and turn to coat. Cover and chill 6 hours or overnight.
  • Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat). Remove ribs from marinade and season with salt and pepper. Grill until cooked through, turning occasionally, approximately 25 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, place marinade in heavy small saucepan. Add maple syrup and boil until reduced to 1/4 cup, about 18 minutes. Brush ribs with glaze. Grill ribs 1 minute longer and serve.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality pork ribs. Look for ribs that are meaty and have good marbling.
  • Trim the ribs of excess fat and silver skin. This will help the ribs cook evenly and prevent them from becoming tough.
  • Season the ribs with a flavorful rub. A simple rub made with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder is a good option.
  • Smoke the ribs over indirect heat at a low temperature (225-250°F) for 3-4 hours, or until the ribs are tender and fall off the bone.
  • Baste the ribs with maple syrup or a maple-based glaze during the last hour of cooking. This will help to caramelize the ribs and give them a delicious flavor.
  • Let the ribs rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the ribs, making them even more tender.

Conclusion:

Maple pork ribs are a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. Whether you are grilling them in the backyard or smoking them in your smoker, these ribs are sure to be a hit. With a little planning and preparation, you can make maple pork ribs that are fall-off-the-bone tender and bursting with flavor. So next time you are looking for a delicious and impressive dish to serve, give maple pork ribs a try. You won't be disappointed!
