MANGO AVOCADO SHRIMP SALAD

Mango Avocado Shrimp Salad image

From myrecipes.com, originally from Sunset magazine. Peaches (fresh or good canned) make a fine substitute if good, ripe mangoes (or canned mangoes) can't be found. The shrimp I've found that were the right size were Canadian shrimp; the fish counter at my supermarket had them available frozen upon request.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe fruits: For the best flavor and texture, use ripe mangoes, avocados, and papayas. Look for fruits that are slightly soft to the touch and have a vibrant color.
  • Use fresh shrimp: Fresh shrimp is essential for this salad. Look for shrimp that is firm and has a slightly translucent appearance.
  • Properly clean the shrimp: Devein and peel the shrimp before cooking. This will help to remove any impurities and ensure that the shrimp is cooked evenly.
  • Do not overcook the shrimp: Shrimp cooks quickly, so be careful not to overcook it. Overcooked shrimp will become tough and rubbery.
  • Use a light dressing: A light vinaigrette or citrus-based dressing is best for this salad. A heavy dressing will overpower the delicate flavors of the fruit and shrimp.
  • Serve immediately: This salad is best served immediately after it is made. The fruit and shrimp will start to lose their flavor and texture if they sit for too long.

Conclusion:

This mango, avocado, papaya, and shrimp salad is a delicious and refreshing dish that is perfect for a summer meal. The combination of sweet fruit, succulent shrimp, and tangy dressing is sure to please everyone at your table. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Experiment with different dressings and toppings to find your perfect combination.
