Tips:

  • Use fresh fruits: Fresh fruits, especially berries, add a burst of flavor and color to ambrosia salad. Opt for fruits that are ripe and in season.
  • Choose a variety of fruits: Ambrosia salad is a great way to use up leftover fruits. Feel free to mix and match different types of fruits, such as oranges, pineapple, grapes, and cherries.
  • Don't overcook the coconut: Toasted coconut adds a nice crunch to ambrosia salad. However, be careful not to overcook it, as this can make it tough and bitter.
  • Use a light dressing: A simple dressing made with sour cream, mayonnaise, or yogurt is all you need to bind the ingredients together. Avoid using heavy dressings, as these can overpower the delicate flavors of the fruit.
  • Chill before serving: Ambrosia salad is best served chilled. This allows the flavors to meld together and the salad to firm up.
