Categories     Fruit Desserts

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 8 oz tub of cool whip. thawed.
1 10 oz jar of maraschino cherries ( coarsely chopped)
1/4 c maraschino cherry juice
1 3 oz box of lime jello
1 shortbread pie crust

Steps:

  • 1. Pour 1/4 cup of cherry juice in to a medium bowl (this is the bowl that you will eventually mix all the ingredients in make sure it is big enough)and microwave for about 45 seconds.
  • 2. When the juice is done, pour the lime jello into the cherry juice and mix well. Its ok if it doesn't dissolve.
  • 3. Drain the rest of the cherries and coarsely chop them. I like to use my small food processor for this.
  • 4. Fold in the cool whip with the jello mixture. When that is all incorperated then mix in the chopped cherries.
  • 5. Pour the pie mixture into the shortbread crust. Cover and let it chill in the fridge for about 6 hours or over night. Enjoy

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use fresh limes.
  • If you don't have a lime zester, you can use a microplane or a fine grater to zest the limes.
  • To make sure the pie crust is cooked through, bake it for 10-15 minutes before adding the filling.
  • Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will help the filling set and the flavors to meld.
  • Serve the pie with whipped cream, ice cream, or a dollop of sour cream.

Conclusion:

This limeade pie is a refreshing and delicious dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The combination of the tangy lime filling and the sweet and flaky crust is sure to please everyone. So next time you are looking for a delicious and easy dessert, give this limeade pie a try. You won't be disappointed!
