Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 c water
2 cubes chicken/beef bouillon (any flavor works)
2 Tbsp corn starch
1 Tbsp cold water
pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • 1. In a microwave safe dish heat water and bouillon on high, stirring occasionally until just boiling. About 2- 2 1/2 minutes.
  • 2. In a small cup combine the cornstarch, pepper and cold water and mix together. Add mixture to hot broth.
  • 3. Cook on medium for about 1 minute, or until thick, stirring at 30 second intervals.

Tips:

  • To make the gravy ahead of time, prepare it up to 2 days in advance and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. When ready to use, reheat the gravy over low heat, stirring occasionally, until warmed through.
  • If you don't have any drippings, you can use butter or oil to make the gravy. Just melt 2 tablespoons of butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once the butter or oil is melted, add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • To make a thicker gravy, add more flour to the roux. For a thinner gravy, add more liquid.
  • Season the gravy to taste with salt, pepper, and other desired seasonings. Some popular additions include garlic powder, onion powder, and dried thyme.
  • Serve the gravy immediately over your favorite dishes, such as roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, or vegetables.
