1 1/2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in large bowl.
  • Add water, oil, vinegar and vanilla; stir with spoon or wire whisk just until batter is smooth and ingredients are well blended.
  • Pour into greased and floured 9-inch layer pan or 8-inch square pan.
  • Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes or until tester comes out clean.
  • Cool in pan; frost as desired.

I got this recipe from one of my brothers girlfriends years ago. She made it for us and it is just so yummy. But best of all it is fast to make.

Number Of Ingredients 16

2 c sugar
2 c all purpose flour
1 stick margarine or butter
1/2 c shortening
4 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 c water
1/2 c sour cream
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
FROSTING
1 stick margarine or butter
3 Tbsp cocoa powder
6 Tbsp sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 lb powdered sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Sift together in a bowl, 2 cups sugar & 2 cups of flour.
  • 2. In a pan bring to a boil, 1 stick of margarine or butter, 1/2 cup shortening, 4 tablespoon of cocoa and 1 cup of water. After it comes to a boil pour over sugar and flour mixture. Add 1/2 cup sour cream, 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla & 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Beat all ingrediants together and pour into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 for 25-35 minutes.
  • 3. When cake is almost done, boil 1 stick of margarine or butter, 3 tablespoons of cocoa and 6 tablespoons of sour cream. Slowly add 1 pound of powdered sugar stirring in between. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla mix well. Pour over cake while hot. Let cake and frosting cool then serve.
