Number Of Ingredients 6

2 pounds cod fillet, or any white fish
1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup all purpose flour
Dash paprika, to taste
Salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Cut fillets into serving sizes. Melt butter in sauce pan or microwave. Add lemon juice to melted butter. In another dish, mix together flour, salt & pepper. Dip fish into butter/lemon mix, then lightly coat with the flour mixture, coating well on all sides. Place coated fillets in an ungreased baking dish. Drizzle remaining butter mix over fillets. Sprinkle entire dish with paprika. Bake, uncovered in 350°F oven for 25-30 minutes. Fish should flake easily with a fork. Garnish with parsley and lemon wedges.

Tips:

  • To ensure the cod fillets are evenly cooked, make sure they are all of similar thickness. If you have fillets of varying thicknesses, consider slicing the thicker ones in half horizontally.
  • If you're using frozen cod fillets, thaw them completely before cooking. This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from steaming instead of baking.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of lemon and butter in the recipe to your liking. If you prefer a more intense lemon flavor, add more lemon zest or juice. If you want a richer, buttery flavor, add more butter.
  • Garnish the finished dish with fresh herbs, such as parsley, dill, or chives, for a pop of color and flavor.

Conclusion:

This Lemon Butter Baked Cod is an easy and flavorful seafood dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. The cod is cooked to perfection in a mixture of melted butter, lemon juice, and herbs, resulting in a tender, flaky fish with a bright and zesty flavor. Serve it with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or rice, for a complete meal. The combination of the flaky cod, tangy lemon, and rich butter creates a delicious and satisfying dish that is sure to impress your family and friends.
