KIWI SORBET

Kiwi Sorbet image

A light and refreshing sorbet, great at the end of a summer meal. Use riper fruit for a fuller flavor.

Provided by Marie95

Categories     Frozen Desserts

Time 1h10m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

5 -6 kiwi fruits, peeled
1 1/2 cups water
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/4 cup orange juice

Steps:

  • Start by putting the water in a saucepan, add the sugar and put on low heat, just long enough for the sugar to dissolve. Remove from heat and place in the fridge or freezer while you prepare the other items.
  • Peel kiwis and cut into large pieces. Place in a blender and blend until liquified. Use enough kiwis to get about 2 cups of kiwi juice in the blender.
  • Pour the kiwi juice into the water/sugar, pouring through a strainer if you want to remove seeds, though they are ok if they remain.
  • Add lime juice and orange juice, mix until well blended. Chill in fridge or freezer for about an hour, then pour into an ice cream/sorbet maker following instructions that came with your machine. Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Select ripe and flavorful kiwis for the best sorbet. Look for fruits with bright green flesh and no blemishes.
  • Use a food processor or high-powered blender to achieve a smooth and creamy sorbet texture.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar or honey to your taste preference. For a tangier sorbet, reduce the sweetener.
  • If using an ice cream maker, churn the sorbet according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • For a no-churn method, freeze the sorbet mixture in a covered container for at least 4 hours, stirring every hour to prevent ice crystals from forming.
  • Serve the sorbet immediately after churning or freezing for the best texture and flavor.

Conclusion:

Kiwi sorbet is a refreshing and delicious treat that is perfect for hot summer days. It is easy to make with just a few simple ingredients and can be enjoyed on its own or as a topping for other desserts. With its vibrant green color and tangy-sweet flavor, kiwi sorbet is a surefire crowd-pleaser that will cool you down and satisfy your sweet tooth.
