Number Of Ingredients 11

1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup margarine or 1/3 cup butter
5 1/2-6 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup quick-cooking oats
2 teaspoons salt
2 (1/4 ounce) packages active dry yeast (or 2 tablespoons from bulk)
2 eggs
1 egg white
1 tablespoon water
oatmeal (for top)

Steps:

  • Place water, honey, and margarine in small saucepan.
  • Heat over low heat until mixture is very warm (120-130°F).

  • Mix with dough hook on speed 2 (low) about 15 seconds.
  • Continue mixing, gradually adding warm water mixture and mix for 1 minute.
  • Add eggs and mix 1 minute longer.
  • Still on speed 2, add remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, and mix about 2 minutes, or until dough clings to hook and cleans side of bowl.
  • Knead on speed 2 about 2 minutes longer.
  • Place dough in greased bowl, turning to grease top.
  • Cover.
  • Let rise in warm place, free from draft, about 1 hour, or until doubled.

  • Shape each half into a loaf.
  • Place in greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch baking pan.

  • Brush top of loaves with mixture.
  • Sprinkle with oatmeal.
  • Bake at 375°F for 40 minutes.
  • Remove from pans immediately and cool on wire racks.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients. This will make a big difference in the flavor of your bread.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will develop the gluten in the flour too much, resulting in a tough bread.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place. This will help the yeast to grow and produce carbon dioxide, which will give your bread a light and airy texture.
  • Bake the bread until it is golden brown. This will ensure that the bread is cooked through.
  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing it. This will help the bread to retain its moisture and flavor.

Conclusion:

KitchenAid Honey Oatmeal Bread is a delicious and versatile bread that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own liking. Whether you like it plain, with butter, or with your favorite jam or jelly, this bread is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
