KIELBASA APPLE KABOBS

Kielbasa Apple Kabobs image

This is a super simple recipe I copied from the Whole Foods Market website. The grilled kielbasa have such a wonderful flavor. You can even use turkey kielbasa to save on calories and fat. I use more apple just because my kids like the way they taste off the grill. It's okay to let the ingredients sit in the lemon juice mixture for a few minutes. I was concerned about that at first, but it does not overpower or alter the flavor of the dish. I also don't use the skewers. I use a grilling basket - it's much faster!! I serve with couscous.

Tips:

  • Choose the right kielbasa: Look for a kielbasa that is fully cooked and has a good smoky flavor. You can find kielbasa in the refrigerated or frozen section of most grocery stores.
  • Use a variety of apples: Different types of apples will give your kabobs different flavors and textures. Some good choices include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Gala apples.
  • Cut the apples and kielbasa into uniform pieces: This will help them cook evenly. You can use a sharp knife or a mandoline to cut the apples and kielbasa.
  • Skewer the apples and kielbasa: Use sturdy skewers to prevent the kabobs from falling apart. If you are using wooden skewers, be sure to soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before using to prevent them from burning.
  • Brush the kabobs with oil: This will help them brown and prevent them from sticking to the grill.
  • Grill the kabobs over medium heat: This will help them cook evenly without burning. You can also cook the kabobs in a preheated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Serve the kabobs with your favorite dipping sauce: Some good choices include mustard, ketchup, barbecue sauce, or ranch dressing.

Conclusion:

Kielbasa apple kabobs are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. They are perfect for parties, picnics, or potlucks. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a dish that everyone will love. So fire up the grill and get cooking!
