ti leaves
1/2 gal. water

  • Cook the pork shoulder slowly and low: Kalua puaa is traditionally cooked in an imu, or underground oven. If you don't have an imu, you can cook the pork shoulder in a slow cooker or roasting pan. Cook the pork shoulder for at least 8 hours, or until it is fall-off-the-bone tender.
  • Shred the pork shoulder: Once the pork shoulder is cooked, shred it with two forks. Serve the pork shoulder with rice, cabbage, and your favorite sides.
