AWESOME ITALIAN VENISON FOR SANDWICHES

Awesome Italian Venison for Sandwiches image

Venison is cooked with spices in a slow cooker until it falls apart and can be used on sandwich rolls or served over noodles. DH loves venison but I can only eat it if it's "disguised". This doesn't taste like game at all. An easy recipe to alter to make your own. We adapted this from a game recipe website and served it at a bachelor party - it was GONE. Serving portions are a guess since we never weigh our meat and have even used back strap instead of roast.

Tips:

  • Choose the right venison: Use venison from a young deer for the most tender and flavorful meat.
  • Marinate the venison: Marinating the venison helps to tenderize it and add flavor. You can use a variety of marinades, but a simple one made with olive oil, garlic, and rosemary is a good option.
  • Cook the venison properly: Venison should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-rare or 165 degrees Fahrenheit for medium.
  • Use high-quality bread: The bread you use for your sandwiches is important. Choose a sturdy bread that can hold up to the fillings, such as a ciabatta roll or a baguette.
  • Add your favorite toppings: There are endless possibilities for toppings on your venison sandwiches. Some popular options include cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and peppers.
