Categories     Citrus     Appetizer     St. Patrick's Day

Yield 2 cocktails

Number Of Ingredients 6

Juice of ½ lemon (2 T.)
1 T. lemonade concentrate
1 jigger (1 ½ oz.) whiskey, preferably Jameson
½ cup fresh-squeezed orange juice
1 T. Grenadine syrup
Ice

Steps:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake until ice cold. Pour into stemmed glass and garnish with a sprig of mint. *The Irish colors of orange and green are represented in this drink.

Tips:

  • Chill your glass: Before making the sour, chill your glass in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. This will help to keep the drink cold and refreshing.
  • Use fresh lemon juice: Fresh lemon juice is essential for a great sour. Bottled lemon juice can be used in a pinch, but fresh lemon juice will give the drink a brighter, more flavorful taste.
  • Choose a good quality Irish whiskey: The whiskey is the star of the show in this cocktail, so it's important to choose a good one. Look for a whiskey that is smooth and flavorful, with a good balance of sweetness and spice.
  • Don't overshake the drink: When shaking the sour, don't overdo it. Over-shaking will dilute the drink and make it watery. Shake the drink just until the ingredients are well combined and the ice is slightly cracked.
  • Garnish with a lemon twist: A lemon twist is the perfect garnish for an Irish whiskey sour. It adds a bright, citrusy flavor to the drink and makes it look more festive.

Conclusion:

The Irish whiskey sour is a classic cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. It's easy to make, refreshing, and delicious. With its perfect balance of sweet, sour, and boozy, the Irish whiskey sour is sure to be a hit with your friends and family.
