Tips:
- Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature before starting. This ensures even mixing and a smooth batter.
- Use high-quality cocoa powder for a rich chocolate flavor. Look for unsweetened cocoa powder with a deep, dark color.
- Do not overmix the batter. Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
- Use a 9x13 inch baking pan for this recipe. A smaller pan will result in a thicker cake, while a larger pan will result in a thinner cake.
- Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached. Overbaking can result in a dry cake.
- Let the cake cool completely before frosting. This will help the frosting set properly.
- For a richer flavor, use homemade hot fudge sauce. You can find recipes online or in cookbooks.
- Serve the cake with ice cream or whipped cream for a decadent dessert.
