My graham cracker-crusted ham gets a double coating of a simple honey-maple glaze. The first half melts into the ham while the second half forms a sweet caramelized topping. -Alan Sproles, Knoxville, Tennessee

WISCONSIN MAPLE AND CLOVER HONEY GLAZED HAM

Wisconsin Maple and Clover Honey Glazed Ham image

Time 35m

Yield 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup maple syrup
1 cup clover honey
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground mustard

Steps:

  • Cook ham according to package directions.
  • Mix together all ingredients listed above for the glaze.
  • Brush glaze on ham when 30 minutes of cook time remain.
  • Continue baking ham uncovered until cooked through.

Tips:

  • For the perfect glaze, use equal parts honey and maple syrup. This will create a thick, glossy glaze that will adhere to the ham and caramelize beautifully in the oven.
  • To ensure that the ham is cooked through, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. The ham is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • If you don't have a meat thermometer, you can also check the ham for doneness by inserting a fork into the thickest part of the ham. If the juices run clear, the ham is done.
  • Let the ham rest for at least 15 minutes before carving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the ham, making it more tender and flavorful.
  • Serve the ham with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, green beans, or roasted vegetables.

Conclusion:

Honey-maple glazed ham is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any special occasion. With its sweet and savory glaze, tender meat, and beautiful presentation, this ham is sure to impress your guests. So next time you're looking for a special meal to serve, give honey-maple glazed ham a try.
