Tips:

  • Choose the right turkey meat: Use a combination of ground turkey breast and dark meat for a flavorful sausage. Ground turkey thigh is a good option for a more tender sausage.
  • Season the sausage well: Use a variety of spices and herbs to flavor the sausage, such as sage, thyme, rosemary, garlic, and onion powder. Don't be afraid to experiment with different flavor combinations.
  • Use a food processor to grind the meat: This will ensure that the sausage is evenly ground and has a smooth texture. If you don't have a food processor, you can also use a meat grinder.
  • Be careful not to overmix the sausage: Overmixing can make the sausage tough. Mix the sausage just until it is evenly combined.
  • Cook the sausage thoroughly: Cook the sausage over medium heat until it is no longer pink in the center. This will ensure that the sausage is safe to eat.

Conclusion:

Homemade turkey sausage is a delicious and versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of dishes. It is a great way to use up leftover turkey and it is also a healthier alternative to traditional pork sausage. With a little planning and effort, you can easily make your own homemade turkey sausage at home.
