Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 submarine or hoagie bun
3 slices deli roast beef
3 slices deli roast turkey
3 slices deli honey ham
3 slices precooked bacon
3 slices provolone cheese
4 tomato slices
3 rings red onion
2 tablespoons Italian dressing
1/2 cup shredded lettuce

Steps:

  • Slice your sub bun in half in the middle.
  • Fold the sliced meat in half and place them in threes on the sub bun (ham, turkey, beef) and then repeat until you've reached the end of the bun. In other words, it uses three slices of each in a pattern (ham, turkey, beef, ham, turkey, beef, etc). When you fold the sandwich closed, this gives you those nice layers you see in the picture.
  • Add slices of provolone cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced onion and tomato.
  • Drizzle with Italian Dressing (sub sauce) and serve.

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 heads romaine lettuce, shredded
Olive oil, to taste
Red-wine vinegar, to taste
Coarse salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Dried oregano, to taste
1 (3-foot) loaf Italian bread with sesame seeds
1 cup best-quality mayonnaise
3/4 pound oven-roasted turkey, thinly sliced
3/4 pound baked ham, thinly sliced
3/4 pound Genoa salami, thinly sliced
3/4 pound soppressata salami, thinly sliced
3/4 pound provolone cheese, thinly sliced
4 large vine-ripened tomatoes, thinly sliced
24 mini baseball pennants, or toothpicks

Steps:

  • Put shredded lettuce in a bowl, and drizzle lightly with oil and vinegar; season with salt, pepper, and oregano.
  • Using a sharp, serrated knife, cut bread in half lengthwise. With your hands, pull out the soft center from the bread. Using a spatula, spread mayonnaise evenly over each bread half.
  • On bottom bread half, evenly layer turkey, ham, Genoa salami, soppressata, provolone, and tomatoes. Add layer of lettuce. Top with remaining bread half. Cut sandwich into triangles, and secure with mini baseball pennants or toothpicks. Serve immediately, or chill until ready to serve.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the sandwich will be. Look for fresh bread, cold cuts, cheese, and vegetables.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment: There are endless possibilities when it comes to submarine sandwiches. Try different combinations of bread, meats, cheeses, and vegetables until you find your favorite.
  • Make sure the bread is sturdy enough to hold all the fillings: You don't want the bread to get soggy or fall apart while you're eating it.
  • Spread a thin layer of butter or mayonnaise on the bread: This will help to keep the bread moist and prevent it from getting soggy.
  • Layer the fillings evenly on the bread: Don't pile all the fillings on in one spot. Spread them out evenly so that each bite has a little bit of everything.
  • If you're using a lot of fillings, toast the bread first: This will help to keep the bread from getting too soggy.
  • Serve the sandwich immediately: Submarine sandwiches are best when they're fresh. If you're not going to eat it right away, wrap it up tightly and store it in the refrigerator for later.

With so many different combinations of fillings to choose from, there's sure to be a submarine sandwich that everyone will love.
