HOLIDAY COSMOPOLITAN

Categories     Citrus     Drink

Number Of Ingredients 16

3 tablespoons vodka
1 tablespoon orange liqueur (such as Triple Sec)
1 tablespoon Cranberry Reduction
1 1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
Ice cubes
Garnish: lemon rind twist
Ingredients
Cranberry Reduction:
2 cups cranberry juice
1/2 cup canned jellied cranberry sauce
1/4 cup sugar
4 dashes Angostura bitters
1 (3-inch) rosemary sprig
Preparation
Boil first 4 ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring often, 4 to 5 minutes or until smooth. Reduce heat to low, and simmer, stirring occasionally, 20 minutes or until liquid is reduced by half and slightly thickened.
Add rosemary; cover and let stand 5 minutes. Discard rosemary. Cool mixture 30 minutes. Cover and chill 1 hour. Store in an airtight container in refrigerator up to 1 week.

Steps:

  • Preparation Stir together vodka, orange liqueur, Cranberry Reduction, and fresh lemon juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes. Cover with lid, and shake vigorously until thoroughly chilled (about 30 seconds). Strain mixture into a chilled coupe or martini glass. Garnish, if desired.

Tips:

  • Use Fresh Ingredients: The fresher your ingredients, the better your cosmopolitan will taste. This is especially true for the cranberry juice and lime juice.
  • Chill Your Ingredients and Glassware: Chilling your ingredients and glassware before making the cosmopolitan will help to keep the drink cold and refreshing.
  • Use a Good Quality Vodka: The vodka is the main ingredient in a cosmopolitan, so it's important to use a good quality vodka. Look for a vodka that is smooth and has a neutral flavor.
  • Don't Overfill the Glass: A cosmopolitan is a relatively strong drink, so it's important to not overfill the glass. A good rule of thumb is to fill the glass about two-thirds full.
  • Garnish with a Twist of Lime: A twist of lime is the traditional garnish for a cosmopolitan. It adds a pop of color and flavor to the drink.

Conclusion:

The holiday cosmopolitan is a delicious and festive cocktail that is perfect for any holiday party. It's easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you're looking for a festive cocktail, give the holiday cosmopolitan a try. You won't be disappointed!
