Tips:

  • Use fresh green beans: Fresh green beans are more flavorful and tender than frozen or canned beans. If you're using frozen beans, thaw them completely before cooking.
  • Trim the green beans: Trim the ends of the green beans before cooking. This will help them cook evenly.
  • Blanch the green beans: Blanching the green beans before sautéing them will help them retain their color and crispness.
  • Use a hot wok or skillet: A hot wok or skillet will help the green beans cook quickly and evenly.
  • Don't overcrowd the wok or skillet: If you overcrowd the wok or skillet, the green beans will not cook evenly.
  • Stir-fry the green beans until they are tender-crisp: You want the green beans to be tender, but still have a little bit of crunch.
  • Add the hoisin sauce and other seasonings: Add the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil to the green beans and stir-fry for a few minutes more.
