**Tips for a Perfect Hershey's Sheet Cake:**

1. Use high-quality chocolate: The quality of your chocolate will greatly impact the final result. Opt for high-quality cocoa powder and chocolate chips or bars.
2. Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
3. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean: This ensures that your cake is cooked through without being overbaked.
4. Let the cake cool completely before frosting: Allow the cake to cool completely to room temperature before applying the frosting. This will help prevent the frosting from melting.
5. Store the cake properly: Once frosted, store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

HERSHEY SHEET CAKE

This is my cousin, Lorraine's, recipe. She made this years ago when my husband, son & I were visiting and I asked for the recipe. I think of her every single time I make this cake! It is so good and moist. Oh, and it's really good with a scoop of vanilla ice cream (Bryers is our favorite) on top.

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 stick butter or margarine, softened
1 c granulated sugar
16 oz can hershey syrup
4 eggs
1 c self-rising flour
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
ICING:
1 c granulated sugar
1/3 c evaporated milk, undiluted
1 stick butter or margarine
1/2 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c chopped nuts (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350. Lightly spray sheet cake pan with Pam. CAKE: Mix all ingredients well and pour into prepared sheet cake pan and bake at 350 for approximately 35 minutes. Ice cake while hot.
  • 2. ICING: In a saucepan add sugar, milk and butter and bring to a boil then boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips and mix well. You may now add nuts if you're using them. Spread icing over hot cake. Don't cut cake until the icing has had time to set, which doesn't take long.

A lady on a local radio call-in show got talking about this cake one day and the station was swamped with request for the recipe. It sounded good to me too so I also requested it and thought I'd share it here.

Time 1h15m

Yield 12-20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 (18 ounce) box chocolate cake mix (I use Swiss or regular.)
3 eggs
1 cup oil
1 cup milk
1 instant vanilla pudding
1 (12 ounce) container Cool Whip
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
4 hershey chocolate bars with almonds, grated
1/2 cup pecans

Steps:

  • Mix first 5 ingredients and bake at 350 in 4 round cake pans.
  • (I just used 2 cake pans twice. Who has four cake pans?) Bake according to cake mix directions.
  • Mix frosting ingredients together and add 4 grated Hershey bars with almonds and ½ cup pecans.
  • Ice between layers, top and sides.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will result in a more flavorful and moist cake. Choose unsweetened cocoa powder for a richer chocolate flavor.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can make the cake tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cake at the right temperature: The cake should be baked at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes. If the cake is baked at too high a temperature, it will be dry and crumbly.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting: This will help the frosting to set properly and prevent it from sliding off the cake.
  • Use a variety of toppings: Frost the cake with your favorite frosting, such as chocolate ganache, whipped cream, or cream cheese frosting. You can also add other toppings, such as chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or fresh berries.

Conclusion:

Hershey's sheet cake is a classic chocolate cake recipe that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its moist, chocolatey crumb and rich frosting, this cake is perfect for any occasion. Whether you're a beginner baker or a seasoned pro, you'll love this simple and delicious recipe.
