Time 30m

Yield 10-12 rolls, 10-12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 cup herman starter, twice-fed
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup light brown sugar (I use dark brown)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup pecans (or other nuts)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 and grease a pie or round cake pan.
  • Mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, 1/4 c brown sugar, oil, & Herman.
  • Place on floured surface and knead lightly.
  • Shape into rolls and place in greased pie or cake pan.
  • Stir together the other 1/4 c brown sugar, cinnamon, butter, and nuts to make the topping. Sprinkle over rolls. Bake 15-20 minutes or until brown.

Tips:

  • Use a kitchen scale to measure ingredients for the most accurate results.
  • Make sure your butter is at room temperature before creaming it with the sugar.
  • If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. If it's too dry, add a little more milk.
  • Knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  • Shape the dough pieces into rolls and place them in a greased baking dish.
  • Let the rolls rise again until they have doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
  • Bake the rolls in a preheated oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  • Serve the rolls warm with butter or your favorite spread.

Conclusion:

Herman Dinner Rolls are a delicious and versatile side dish that can be served with a variety of meals. They are soft and fluffy on the inside, with a slightly crispy crust on the outside. The rolls are also easy to make, and can be prepared ahead of time. Whether you are serving them for a special occasion or a weeknight dinner, Herman Dinner Rolls are sure to be a hit.
