Steps:
- Combine Parmesan and herbs in a large mixing bowl. Set a 10-inch skillet over low heat. Add a 1/4 cup of Parmesan mix to the pan and sprinkle it so it is evenly spread and you have a lattice effect i.e. it should be a lacey and thin layer. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes until golden and crispy. Carefully remove from the pan and cool on a tray. Repeat with remaining ingredients until used up. Break disks into large crisps.
- Break up walnuts into a rough powder using a mortar and pestle. Add salt and pepper and mix well. Season Parmesan crisps with the powdered walnuts.
Tips:
- Use a variety of herbs for a more complex flavor.
- Grate the Parmesan cheese finely so that it melts evenly.
- Be careful not to burn the crisps, as they can quickly go from golden brown to burnt.
- Let the crisps cool completely before storing them, as they will become more brittle and easier to break when cold.
- Store the crisps in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Conclusion:
Herbed Parmesan Crisps are a delicious and versatile snack that can be enjoyed on their own or served with a variety of dips and spreads. They are also a great way to use up leftover Parmesan cheese. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can easily make these crispy and flavorful treats at home.
