4 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon minced fresh thyme
1 tablespoon minced fresh rosemary

Nutrition Facts :

Tips:

  • For smooth and creamy mashed potatoes, use starchy potatoes like Russets or Yukon Golds. These potatoes have a higher starch content that breaks down easily during cooking, resulting in a velvety texture.
  • Make sure to peel and cut the potatoes into evenly sized pieces. This will ensure that they cook evenly.
  • Do not overcook the potatoes. Overcooked potatoes will become gummy and lose their texture.
  • Drain the potatoes thoroughly before mashing. Excess water will make the mashed potatoes watery and thin.
  • Use a potato ricer or food mill to achieve a smooth and lump-free texture. Alternatively, you can use a hand masher or electric mixer on low speed.
  • Add butter, milk, and seasonings gradually while mashing. This will help you control the consistency and flavor of the mashed potatoes.
  • For a richer flavor, use whole milk, cream, or half-and-half instead of water.
  • Experiment with different herbs and seasonings to create unique flavor combinations. Some popular choices include garlic, chives, rosemary, thyme, and parsley.
  • Leftover mashed potatoes can be used to make potato cakes, croquettes, or gnocchi.

These herbed mashed potatoes are a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of meals. With just a few simple ingredients and some basic cooking techniques, you can easily create this classic dish that is sure to please the whole family.
