- In a food processor, combine the basil, parsley, garlic, lemon zest, a big pinch of salt and a few grinds of pepper. Pulse until everything is thoroughly chopped and combined. Add the butter and pulse until thoroughly mixed. Scrape the butter mixture out of the food processor onto a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper and form into a log. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Preheat a grill or a grill pan for medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates. Grill the corn, rotating it as it cooks, until lightly charred in places, 3 to 4 minutes per side.
- Remove the corn from the grill, smear each ear with a generous amount of the herb butter and serve.

A pleasant blend of herbs dresses up this buttery, fresh-flavored corn dish that's part of "all the trimmings" for our Thanksgiving meal. I also serve it frequently throughout the year and take a bowl along to carry-in dinners. -Edna Hoffman, Hebron, Indiana

Steps:
- Combine butter and herbs in the bowl of a food processor fitted with the paddle attachment. Season with salt and pepper, and process until well combined.
- Using a rubber spatula, turn butter out onto the center of a 12-inch square piece of parchment. Shape butter into an approximate 4-by-8-inch rectangle. Fold up parchment, and cover with plastic wrap. Transfer to refrigerator until ready to use.
Tips:
- Use fresh herbs: Fresh herbs provide the best flavor for herb butter. If you don't have fresh herbs on hand, you can use dried herbs, but be sure to use half the amount.
- Use unsalted butter: Unsalted butter allows you to control the amount of salt in the herb butter. If you use salted butter, be sure to taste the herb butter before adding additional salt.
- Soften the butter before mixing: Softened butter is easier to mix with the herbs and other ingredients.
- Let the herb butter chill before using: Chilling the herb butter allows the flavors to meld together and also makes it easier to spread.
- Use herb butter within 2 weeks: Herb butter can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Be sure to keep it tightly covered to prevent it from absorbing other flavors in the refrigerator.
Conclusion:
Herb butter is a versatile ingredient that can be used to add flavor to a variety of dishes. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you're using it to brush on corn on the cob, melt over grilled vegetables, or add richness to a soup or stew, herb butter is sure to elevate your meal.
