Tips:

  • Select firm and vibrant brussels sprouts: Choose sprouts that are tightly packed and have a deep green color. Avoid any with yellowing leaves or blemishes.
  • Properly trim the brussels sprouts: Remove any outer leaves and slice off the stem end. If the sprouts are large, cut them in half or quarters for even cooking.
  • Roast the brussels sprouts to perfection: To achieve caramelized and tender sprouts, toss them with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then roast at a high temperature (400°F or 200°C) for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through.
  • Use a variety of nuts for added texture: While the recipe suggests hazelnuts, feel free to experiment with other nuts like walnuts, pecans, or almonds. Toast them lightly in a pan to enhance their flavor.
  • Make a flavorful dressing: The dressing combines Dijon mustard, honey, lemon juice, and olive oil. Whisk them together until emulsified and adjust the seasoning to your preference.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs: Before serving the salad, sprinkle some freshly chopped parsley, cilantro, or chives on top to add a pop of color and freshness.
