HAMBURGER CURRY

This is a Japanese dish that I ate when I was in Japan.

Provided by Kirari Sunga

Categories     Burgers

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 lb ground beef (85/15)
1 clove garlic (minced) or you can use powdered garlic
1/2 green onion
1 Tbsp mirin
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1/2 c panko bread crumbs
any other veggies you like
CURRY
golden curry (follow box directions)

Steps:

  • 1. Pre-heat oven at 400. In a bowl, mix the meat, garlic and green onion. Then add the the mirin, soy sauce, egg and mix. Then add the panko bread crumbs last. Mix well. Form in any shape and form. I usually form mine in about 1" - 1.5". Depending on how big you make them, 1/2 lbs will serve 1-2 people.
  • 2. Place it in a pan and sear both sides, then finish it in the oven for about 10 min or until throughly cooked.
  • 3. For Curry, I use "Golden Curry". You can buy it at the store. Follow the directions on the box. [OPTIONAL] I add unsweetened apple sauce for an apple flavor. I also like mine spicy, if you do too, then you can add a pinch of paprika.

Tips for Making the Best Hamburger Curry:

  • Choose high-quality ground beef. An 80/20 blend of chuck and sirloin is a good option.
  • Season the ground beef generously with salt and pepper. You can also add other seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
  • Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Break up the beef with a spatula as it cooks.
  • Drain the grease from the ground beef.
  • Add the curry powder, flour, and salt to the skillet. Stir to combine.
  • Gradually whisk in the beef broth and milk. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  • Add the frozen peas and carrots to the sauce. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are heated through.
  • Serve the hamburger curry over rice or mashed potatoes.

Conclusion:

Hamburger curry is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a busy weeknight. It is also a great way to use up leftover ground beef. With its combination of savory flavors and hearty ingredients, hamburger curry is sure to be a hit with the whole family. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give hamburger curry a try. You won't be disappointed!
