SWEET HAM AND SWISS SLIDERS

Sweet Ham and Swiss Sliders image

I found this recipe on heatherlikesfood.com in a blog that she posted about Super Bowl food. The sauce that is poured over the rolls caramelizes and gives them a gooey sweetness that meshes perfectly with the ham and Swiss. They are one of the best sliders that I have ever had!

Time 30m

Yield 16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

16 white dinner style rolls, cut in half
24 slices honey-roasted ham
16 slices swiss cheese
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
8 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon poppy seed
1/4 cup brown sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°.
  • On a rimmed baking sheet place bottom half of dinner rolls and top with 1 1/2 slices of ham and 1 slice of swiss cheese.
  • Spread about 1 tsp of mayonnaise on each top-half of roll and place on top of ham and cheese.
  • You want the rolls to be snug together, kissing just a bit so the sauce can soak up into all of the nooks and crannies.
  • In a small bowl combine the mustard, melted butter, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and brown sugar.
  • Mix until combined and evenly pour over the assembled rolls.
  • Cover with foil and refrigerate until ready to bake.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality, thinly sliced ham for the best results.
  • Swiss cheese is the classic choice for these sliders, but you can use any type of cheese that you like.
  • If you don't have slider buns, you can use regular hamburger buns or even English muffins.
  • To make the sliders ahead of time, assemble them and then wrap them tightly in plastic wrap. Store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking.
  • When baking the sliders, be sure to preheat the oven to the correct temperature. This will help to ensure that they cook evenly.
  • Watch the sliders closely while they are baking. They should be cooked through, but you don't want them to overcook and dry out.

Conclusion:

Ham and Swiss sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or game day gatherings. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a crowd-pleasing snack that everyone will love.
