HAM AND EGG FRITTATA

Ham and Egg Frittata image

Great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Feel free to experiment with this original recipe by me. Yummy sauteed meat, potatoes, veggies, with eggs. Ingredient measures are approximate. I had to guess how much I used as I put things in as I went. Love an ingredient, ADD MORE! Don't like one much, ADD LESS! Very versatile recipe.

ONION, HAM, AND CHEESE FRITTATA

Onion, Ham, and Cheese Frittata image

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Time 25m

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 large onion, sliced
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
8 large eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 cup diced ham
1 tablespoon chopped fresh herbs, like parsley, thyme, or dill
1 cup grated Swiss or cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Position a rack about 8 inches from the broiler and preheat.
  • Melt the butter in a medium non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and season with 1/2 teaspoon salt and some pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions get very soft, about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, whisk the eggs and milk in a medium bowl with the remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt and some pepper until smooth. Transfer onions to a bowl to cool. Reserve the skillet.
  • Stir the onions, ham, herbs and cheese into the eggs.
  • Heat the non-stick skillet. Pour the frittata mixture into the pan and stir to make sure the fillings are evenly arranged. Cook, stirring gently a couple times in the first minutes of cooking. Then let the mixture cook undisturbed until the bottom sets, about 5 minutes. Transfer the skillet to the oven and broil until the eggs are just set and brown, about 5 minutes. Take care not to overcook or the eggs will be dry. Remove from the oven, cover, and set aside for 5 minutes.
  • Invert the frittata onto a large plate or platter. Cut into wedges and serve warm or at room temperature.

FRITTATA WITH HAM AND ROASTED PEPPER

Frittata With Ham and Roasted Pepper image

Make and share this Frittata With Ham and Roasted Pepper recipe from Food.com.

Provided by Boomette

Categories     Ham

Time 37m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

5 eggs
1/2 cup milk or 1/2 cup half-and-half cream
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 cup crouton
1/4 cup ham, chopped
1/2 cup fontina or 1/2 cup provolone cheese, grated
1/4 cup roasted red pepper, drained and chopped
1/4 cup green onion, finely chopped (green part only)

Steps:

  • In a bowl, with a whisk, whisk eggs, milk and Dijon mustard. Add croutons, ham and half the cheese, half bell peppers and half green onions. Pour the mixture of eggs in a greased pie plate of 9 inches or an 8 inches greased square pan. Sprinkle with remaining cheese, bell pepper and green onion.
  • Cook in a preheated oven of 350 F for about 20 minutes or until the frittata is golden and the eggs are set. Keep cooking under the preheated grill for about 2 minutes or until frittata is golden and is lightly puffed. Put the pan on a rack and let cool for 5 minutes. Use a spatula to loosen the edges from the pan and cut in wedges.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. The better the ingredients, the better the frittata will be. Look for fresh, organic eggs, good-quality cheese, and flavorful ham.
  • Don't overcook the eggs. The eggs should be cooked through, but still slightly runny in the center. Overcooked eggs will be tough and rubbery.
  • Use a non-stick skillet. This will help to prevent the frittata from sticking and make it easier to flip.
  • Let the frittata cool slightly before slicing. This will help to keep it from falling apart.
  • Serve the frittata warm or at room temperature. It can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Conclusion:

A ham and fontina frittata is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed for any meal. It's easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give this frittata a try!
