Moist fish steaks are draped with thick and creamy sauce in this flavorful recipe. The topping makes a nice alternative to traditional tartar sauce and is just as good on swordfish. -Laura Lunardi, West Chester, Pennsylvania

Tips:

  • For the best results, use fresh halibut fillets. If you can't find fresh halibut, you can use frozen halibut fillets, but be sure to thaw them completely before cooking.
  • To make the fish sticks extra crispy, coat them in a mixture of flour, cornstarch, and bread crumbs before frying.
  • Be careful not to overcrowd the pan when frying the fish sticks. If you do, they will not cook evenly.
  • Serve the fish sticks with your favorite dipping sauce. Tartar sauce is a classic choice, but you can also try ketchup, mayonnaise, or ranch dressing.
