1 pound ground beef
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) beef broth, divided
1 small onion, chopped
2 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons cornstarch
Hot mashed potatoes or cooked pasta

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Add 1-1/2 cups beef broth, onion, parsley, basil, garlic powder, seasoned salt and pepper. Simmer, uncovered, for 5-10 minutes or until onion is tender. , In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and remaining broth until smooth. Stir into beef mixture. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Serve with mashed potatoes or pasta.

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef, onion and garlic until no pink remains. Do not drain.
  • You should have some fat in the bottom of the skillet, if not, add 1 tablespoon butter or oil. Stir in Worcestershire.
  • Stir in flour and allow to cook 2 minutes.
  • Add remaining ingredients and stir. Cook over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Season with salt & pepper to taste.

1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1-1/2 pounds lean ground beef (90% lean)
3 to 4 tablespoons butter
GRAVY:
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup beef broth
1/2 cup milk or half-and-half cream
Salt and pepper to taste
Minced fresh parsley, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat the egg, milk, cornstarch, onion, salt, pepper, nutmeg, allspice and ginger. Add beef; mix well. Shape into 1-1/2-in. meatballs. (Mixture will be very soft. For easier shaping, rinse hands in cold water frequently.) , In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the meatballs in butter, half at a time, for about 10 minutes or until no longer pink. 2 pounds lean ground beef
½ onion, finely chopped
5 cups milk
2 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 teaspoon ground sage
salt and pepper to taste
½ cup all-purpose flour

  • Crumble the ground beef into a large deep skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until evenly browned. Drain most of the grease, leaving just enough to coat the pan. Add the onions, and cook for a few more minutes.
  • Pour 4 cups of the milk into the pan, and stir to scrape up any bits of food that could burn on the bottom of the pan. Mix in the bouillon, butter, sage, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

If the gravy is too thick, thin with a little bit of milk. If it is too thin, simmer longer, or add more flour. Taste and adjust seasonings before serving.
