1-1/2 pounds ground beef
3 celery ribs, sliced
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cans (10-1/2 ounces each) condensed beef consomme, undiluted
1 can (28 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
4 medium carrots, sliced
2 cups water
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed tomato soup, undiluted
1/2 cup medium pearl barley
1 bay leaf

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, cook the beef, celery and onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink; drain. Add the remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 45-50 minutes or until barley is tender. Discard bay leaf.

14 1/2 ounces stewed tomatoes, undrained
1 1/2 cups sliced carrots
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup quick-cooking barley
1 1/2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme leaves, crushed
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 cups torn torn stemmed washed spinach leaves

2 meaty beef soup bones
2 beef bouillon cubes or 2 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
1 pound ground beef
1/4 to 1/2 cup medium pearl barley
1 large carrot, diced
1 small onion, chopped
3 to 4 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
2 teaspoons garlic salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
2 teaspoons dried parsley
