Tips:
- Choose the Right Tilapia Fillets: Select fresh, firm tilapia fillets that are about 6 ounces each and 1 inch thick. Avoid fillets that are thin or have a grayish color.
- Marinate the Tilapia: Marinating the tilapia in a mixture of lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, and herbs helps to infuse flavor and keep the fish moist during grilling.
- Preheat the Grill: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F) before cooking the tilapia. This will help to create a nice sear on the outside of the fish.
- Grill the Tilapia: Place the tilapia fillets on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until the fish is cooked through. The fish is cooked through when it flakes easily with a fork.
- Make the Piccata Sauce: While the tilapia is grilling, prepare the piccata sauce by sautéing shallots, garlic, and mushrooms in butter. Then, add white wine, lemon juice, capers, and parsley and simmer until the sauce has thickened.
- Serve the Tilapia: Serve the grilled tilapia fillets topped with the piccata sauce. You can also serve the fish with grilled vegetables, rice, or pasta.
Conclusion:
Grilled Tilapia Piccata is a delicious and easy-to-make seafood dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. The tilapia is marinated in a flavorful mixture of lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, and herbs, then grilled until cooked through. The piccata sauce is made with shallots, garlic, mushrooms, white wine, lemon juice, capers, and parsley. The sauce is simmered until thickened and then spooned over the grilled tilapia. This dish is sure to please everyone at the table!
