Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 bananas (not too ripe)
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons honey
Vanilla ice cream, for serving
Bourbon or other liqueur, for drizzling, optional

Steps:

  • Build a charcoal fire or preheat a gas grill.

Drizzle the honey on the cut sides of the bananas and sprinkle them with the cinnamon sugar. Let the bananas sit for 5 minutes.

Using a pair of tongs, turn them over and cook for 5 more minutes, or until the skin pulls away from the bananas. Remove the bananas from the grill and serve them immediately, on top of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with bourbon or liqueur, if desired.

Yield Makes 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons honey
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 8-ounce container crème fraîche
6 firm but ripe nectarines, halved, pitted

Steps:

  • Whisk 1/2 cup honey, vinegar, and vanilla in small bowl. Whisk crème fraîche and remaining 2 tablespoons honey in medium bowl to blend. (Glaze and crème fraîche mixture can be made 1 day ahead. Cover separately. Refrigerate crème fraîche mixture. Rewhisk both before using.)
  • Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat). Brush nectarines generously with half of glaze. Grill until heated through, turning occasionally, about 4 minutes. Arrange 2 nectarine halves, cut side up, on each plate. Drizzle with remaining glaze. Spoon some crème fraîche mixture into center of each nectarine half and serve.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe bananas for grilling. Ripe bananas are sweeter and have a softer texture, making them ideal for grilling.
  • Use a grill pan or griddle to cook the bananas. This will help to prevent them from sticking and will also create nice grill marks.
  • Grill the bananas over medium heat. This will help to prevent them from burning.
  • Cook the bananas for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are tender and slightly caramelized.
  • Serve the grilled bananas immediately with your favorite toppings, such as cinnamon crème fraîche, honey, or ice cream.

Conclusion:

Grilled bananas are a delicious and easy dessert that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for a summer cookout or a quick and easy weeknight treat. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a dish that is both flavorful and satisfying. So next time you're looking for a dessert that is both delicious and easy to make, give grilled bananas a try.
