Always cook up a package of potatoes and onions with the rest of your grilled meal! Start early, because it takes about a half an hour to cook. These cook over indirect heat (off to the side), so you can grill other things at the same time.

GRILLED POTATO AND ONION PACKETS

Great side dish for the grill. The mustard taste is very understated. My dh and I don't like mustard, but we love this recipe. In response to Engrossed's review, she is right that you don't need all the oil--I always have oil left in the bowl after I transfer the potato mixture to the foil, and I've just always tossed it.

Tips for Perfect Grilled Potato and Onion Packages:

- Choose the right potatoes: Waxy potatoes like Yukon Golds or Red Potatoes hold their shape well and won't turn mushy when grilled. - Slice the potatoes and onions evenly: This will ensure even cooking. - Use high-quality olive oil: It will add a delicious flavor to the vegetables. - Season generously with salt and pepper: Grilled vegetables need a bit more seasoning than usual to bring out their flavor. - Add some herbs for extra flavor: Fresh thyme, rosemary, or oregano are great choices. - Use sturdy aluminum foil packets: Make sure to seal the packets tightly so that the vegetables steam inside. - Grill over medium heat: This will prevent the vegetables from burning. - Cook until the vegetables are tender: This usually takes about 20-25 minutes. - Let the packets rest for a few minutes before opening: This will help the vegetables retain their juices.

Conclusion:

Grilled potato and onion packages are an easy and delicious side dish that can be enjoyed at any time of year. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and satisfying dish that is perfect for a crowd. So next time you're grilling, be sure to give this recipe a try!
