½ cup finely chopped onion
½ cup brown sugar

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, tender green beans. Look for beans that are bright green and snap easily when you bend them.
  • Trim the beans. Remove the ends of the beans and any tough strings. You can use a sharp knife or a bean trimmer.
  • Cook the beans in a hot skillet. This will help them to brown and blister, giving them a delicious flavor.
  • Add some aromatics. Onions, garlic, and bacon are all great additions to skillet green beans. You can also add herbs like thyme or rosemary.
  • Season the beans well. Salt, pepper, and a little bit of red pepper flakes are all good choices.
  • Cook the beans until they are tender. This will usually take about 10-15 minutes.
  • Serve the beans immediately. They are best when they are hot and fresh.

Conclusion:

Skillet green beans are a delicious and easy side dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are a great way to get your daily dose of vegetables and they are also a good source of fiber and vitamins.
