3 cups sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 cup water
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1 teaspoon salt
1 jar (16 ounces) unsalted dry roasted peanuts
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Grease two baking sheets and keep warm in a 200° oven. In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup and 1 cup water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until a candy thermometer reaches 240° (soft-ball stage). Stir in butter, salt and peanuts. Continue heating, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches 300°., Meanwhile, combine the baking soda, 1 teaspoon water and vanilla. Remove saucepan from the heat. Stir in baking soda mixture. ½ cup light corn syrup
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup water
1 cup peanuts
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 teaspoon baking soda

Steps:

  • Grease a large cookie sheet. Set aside.
  • In a heavy 2 quart saucepan, over medium heat, bring to a boil sugar, corn syrup, salt, and water. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in peanuts. Set candy thermometer in place, and continue cooking. Stir frequently until temperature reaches 300 degrees F (150 degrees C), or until a small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water separates into hard and brittle threads.

2 c sugar
1 c karo syrup
1/2 c water
2 c raw spanish peanuts
2 Tbsp butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp baking soda

Steps:

  • 1. Prepare 1/2 sheet cake pan by buttering it thoroughly. In a small dish stir together the baking soda, vanilla, and butter. Set aside for later use.
  • 2. Combine sugar, syrup, and water into an iron skillet. Heat mixture over medium high heat while stirring, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture starts to boil. Continue cooking while stirring occasionally, until the candy thermometer reaches 295 F (approximately 30 minutes). The time will vary depending on humidity, altitude, etc. This is where patience comes into the mix! *
