Tips:
- Use a good quality meat drippings. The better the quality of the drippings, the better the gravy will be. If you don't have any meat drippings, you can use butter or bacon grease.
- Make sure the flour is cooked. This will help to prevent the gravy from being lumpy. Cook the flour for at least 1 minute, or until it is golden brown.
- Add the milk or broth slowly. This will help to prevent the gravy from curdling. Add the liquid in a slow, steady stream, while whisking constantly.
- Season the gravy to taste. Once the gravy has thickened, season it with salt and pepper. You can also add other seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
- Serve the gravy immediately. White gravy is best served hot. If you need to store the gravy, let it cool completely before refrigerating. The gravy will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
