BISCUITS AND SAUSAGE GRAVY BREAKFAST PIZZA

Biscuits and Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza image

My family's favorite Sunday morning meal is my delicious and easy biscuits and gravy. One morning I decided to double the sausage gravy batch and try out a new recipe - biscuits and gravy pizza! Absolutely amazing. Now my family asks for this just as much as the standard biscuits and gravy. The recipe calls for about half of the amount of gravy that is made; we either make two pizzas with it, or freeze the rest for a later date!

GOOD MORNING BISCUIT BREAKFAST PIZZA

Good Morning Biscuit Breakfast Pizza image

This idea came about when my young nephew wanted pizza for breakfast. We had a party the night before, and one of the pizza boxes was still sitting on the kitchen counter. I told him that I would make him a breakfast pizza... And now you know the rest of the story. If you're used to baking your own biscuits, then this recipe...

your favorite biscuit recipe
3 large eggs
2 oz cheese, cheddar, or your choice, shredded
bacon/sausage/ham, your choice (how about all three... or none at all)
salt, kosher style, to taste
black pepper, freshly ground, to taste

Steps:

  • 1. PREP/PREPARE
  • 2. Gather your ingredients.
  • 3. Place a rack in the center position, and preheat the oven to 450f (230c).
  • 4. Using your favorite biscuit recipe pat out a circle of dough about 5.5 inches (14cm) across, and 1/2 inch (1.2cm) thick. Make two.
  • 5. Press down and dock the center of the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch (1.2cm) border.
  • 6. Chef's Note: Docking involves taking a small knife or a fork, and punching a lot of holes in the dough. This will allow it to cook; however it will prevent the center from rising.
  • 7. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet, and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until nice and golden.
  • 8. While the biscuits are baking, cook the protein, drain on paper towels, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  • 9. Just before the biscuit comes out of the oven, soft scramble the eggs.
  • 10. Chef's Note: Season the eggs with some salt and pepper.
  • 11. Remove the biscuits from the oven.
  • 12. Add half the scrambled eggs to each biscuit.
  • 13. Divide the sausage/bacon/ham.
  • 14. Sprinkle with the cheese.
  • 15. Place under a broiler for just enough time to melt the cheese, about 30 to 60 seconds.
  • 16. PLATE/PRESENT
  • 17. Place on a nice plate, and serve with some coffee, tea and/or juice. Enjoy.
  • 18. Keep the faith, and keep cooking.

TINA'S BISCUIT DOUGH BREAKFAST PIZZA

Tina's Biscuit dough breakfast pizza image

Working on this recipe. Thought it would make a good brunch dish. Next time I will use Colby jack and pork sausage gravy in place of the Alfredo and sub sliced pickled jalapenos for the mushrooms. Then I will try ham instead of bacon and Swiss instead of cheddar. Oh, the yummy possibilities.

Time 55m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 9

cooking spray
1 pound bacon, chopped
2 (12 ounce) cans refrigerated biscuits (10 biscuits per can)
1 teaspoon butter
12 eggs
1 small onion, chopped
½ green bell pepper, chopped
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly spray a 9x12-inch baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring often, until the bacon is browned and crisp, about 10 minutes. Remove bacon pieces with a slotted spoon, and drain on paper towels.
  • Open up the cans of biscuits, separate the biscuits, and arrange onto the prepared baking sheet so they touch. Press the biscuit dough down to seal them together into a crust that covers the baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the crust is slightly cooked and very lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Do not overbake. Remove from oven.
  • Melt the butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat until the foam disappears. Beat the eggs in a bowl, and pour the eggs into the hot skillet. Use a spatula to lift and gently stir the eggs just until set, but still moist, 3 to 4 minutes. Arrange the lightly scrambled eggs on the semi-baked biscuit crust. Top with the cooked bacon, onion, and green pepper; spread the Cheddar cheese all over the pizza. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.
  • Return to oven, and bake on the top rack until the cheese is melted and bubbling and has begun to brown, about 10 more minutes.

Tips:

  • Prep your ingredients in advance. This will help you save time and ensure that everything is ready when you need it.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut your vegetables. This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the vegetables. This will prevent them from steaming instead of sautéing.
  • Season your vegetables with salt and pepper to taste. This will help bring out their natural flavors.
  • Use a preheated oven when baking the pizza. This will help the crust cook evenly and prevent it from becoming soggy.
  • Watch the pizza closely while it bakes. You don't want to overcook it, or the crust will become dry and crumbly.
  • Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will help the cheese set and prevent it from becoming runny.

Conclusion:

This biscuit breakfast pizza is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a busy morning. With its flaky biscuit crust, cheesy filling, and flavorful toppings, it's sure to be a hit with the whole family. So next time you're looking for a quick and satisfying breakfast, give this recipe a try.
