Tips:

  • Activate the yeast properly: Ensure the water is warm (105-115°F) and add a pinch of sugar to help activate the yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • Use quality ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will result in a tastier and more flavorful bread. Use real butter, freshly grated cheese, and unbleached all-purpose flour.
  • Knead the dough properly: Kneading the dough develops the gluten, which gives the bread its structure and elasticity. Knead for at least 5-7 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place: The ideal temperature for rising dough is between 75-85°F. A warm, draft-free place, such as a turned-off oven with the light on, is a good option.
  • Bake the bread at a high temperature: A high initial baking temperature (425°F) creates a crispy crust. After 15 minutes, reduce the temperature to 375°F to finish baking the bread.
