GLUTEN-FREE OAT-FREE APPLE CRISP

Gluten-Free Oat-Free Apple Crisp image

I perfected the gluten-free and oat-free apple crisp. (Even gluten-free oats cause a reaction for me.) It is crunchy and buttery. Many gluten-free flours are not good for crunch, so I split it with cornstarch!

CRISP APPLE AND SAUSAGE SALAD (GLUTEN FREE) RECIPE - (4.2/5)

Crisp Apple and Sausage Salad (Gluten Free) Recipe - (4.2/5) image

Provided by Lady Butterfly

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (12 ounce) package JOHNSONVILLE® Sweet Apple smoked chicken sausage, sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
10 cups mixed salad greens
1/2 small red onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
1/2 cup honey mustard salad dressing

Steps:

  • In a skillet, cook sausage in oil over medium heat until browned. Set aside to cool. In a small bowl, combine apple slices and lemon juice. In a large salad bowl, combine the salad greens, onion, blue cheese and apple slices. Add salad dressing; toss to coat. Gently stir in sausage. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Use the right apples. For a classic apple crisp, use a firm, tart apple like Granny Smith, Braeburn, or Honeycrisp. These apples will hold their shape and not get too mushy when baked.
  • Cut the apples into even-sized pieces. This will help them cook evenly.
  • Don't overmix the topping. You want the topping to be crumbly, not doughy.
  • Bake the apple crisp until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling. This usually takes about 30-40 minutes.
  • Let the apple crisp cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. This will help the topping set and the apples firm up.
  • Serve the apple crisp with your favorite toppings. Some popular options include vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or caramel sauce.

Conclusion:

Apple crisp is a classic dessert that is easy to make and loved by people of all ages. With its simple ingredients and delicious flavor, it's a perfect dessert for any occasion. Whether you're serving it at a potluck, a family gathering, or just a casual get-together, apple crisp is sure to be a hit.
