Categories     Dinner     fish     Main Dish     seafood

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 1/2 pounds whole salmon fillet (with skin on bottom)
4 TB Asian rice vinegar
4 TB regular strength soy sauce
2 TB pure honey
2 TB Asian sesame oil
6 cloves garlic (minced)
1 TB freshly grated ginger
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
2 stalks green onions (thinly sliced)

Steps:

  • Prep ahead: In a bowl, use a hand whisk to mix together the Asian rice vinegar, soy sauce, honey, Asian sesame oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and green onions. This can be done up to a day ahead and kept chilled until ready to use.
  • Use paper towels to thoroughly dry salmon fillet on all sides, removing as much excess moisture as you possibly can. Place salmon in a large glass baking dish. Very slowly, pour marinade over the salmon, ensuring salmon is thoroughly coated. Cover and chill overnight (at minimum, marinate for several hours.)
  • Remove salmon from fridge and let rest at room temp while oven preheats to 350F, with rack on middle position. Transfer salmon to a large rimmed baking sheet. Salmon should be skin-side down. Evenly distribute marinade over salmon. Bake 10 minutes (if your salmon is extra thick, or very cold, you may bake an additional 3-5 minutes.)
  • Remove the salmon from oven, move rack to upper position, and place salmon back on rack. Broil on high for about 5 minutes, watching carefully so salmon doesn't burn. It should reach a nicely browned color on top. Remove salmon from heat, let rest a few minutes at room temperature, and serve warm.

HONEY SOY GLAZED SALMON RECIPE BY TASTY

Honey Soy Glazed Salmon Recipe by Tasty image

Two words: honey salmon! Sure, it takes a tiny bit of prep work, but once you marinate your salmon, you won't be able to go back. A simple mix of honey, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger coats and flavors your fish for 30 minutes before you throw it on the pan until the outside is perfectly crispy. Once that's done, you heat up and reduce some extra marinade to make a thick, to-die-for glaze to pour over your filet. Serve with your favorite veggies or rice and enjoy!

Yield 2 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

12 oz skinless salmon
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced

⅓ cup less sodium soy sauce
⅓ cup honey

Steps:

  • Place salmon in a sealable bag or medium bowl.
  • In a small bowl or measuring cup, mix marinade ingredients.
  • Pour half of the marinade on the salmon. Save the other half for later.
  • Let the salmon marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

GINGER & SOY SALMON EN PAPILLOTE

Ginger & soy salmon en papillote image

Steaming the salmon in a parcel, in its own marinade, with the spiralized veg, ensures the fish is juicy and full of flavour. Serve with Jasmine or basmati rice

Provided by Sophie Godwin - Cookery writer

Categories     Dinner, Main course

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 tbsp light soy sauce
1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
thumb-sized piece of ginger , finely grated
1 garlic clove , finely grated
2 skinless salmon fillets (about 140g each)
1 courgette , ends trimmed and spiralized into thin noodles
1 carrot , peeled, ends trimmed and spiralized into thin noodles
2 bulbs of pak choi (about 200g), leaves separated
1 red chilli , thinly sliced, deseeded if you like
Thai jasmine rice , to serve (optional)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Before you prep the veg mix together the soy, vinegar, ginger, garlic and some black pepper in a bowl. Add the salmon fillets, cover and leave to marinate for 10 mins at room temperature or up to 2 hrs in the fridge.
  • Tear two large sheets of baking parchment, big enough to encase the fish and vegetables in and put onto a baking tray.
  • Divide the vegetables between the centre of the paper and top each with a marinated salmon fillet and the sliced chilli. Bring the sides of the parchment up over the salmon and pour half of the remaining marinade over each fillet then scrunch the paper tightly together to seal the fish in a parcel.
  • Roast for 20-25 mins, until the salmon is just cooked through and flakes into large pieces. Serve the fish in the parcel with some rice, if you like.

Tips:

  • Choose the right salmon: Opt for a fresh, wild-caught salmon fillet for the best flavor and texture.
  • Use a good quality soy sauce: A dark, flavorful soy sauce will add depth to the marinade.
  • Don't overcook the salmon: Salmon is a delicate fish that can easily become dry if overcooked. Cook it just until it is opaque in the center, about 12-15 minutes.
  • Serve with your favorite sides: Roasted vegetables, steamed rice, or a simple green salad are all great accompaniments to baked salmon.

Conclusion:

This ginger soy baked salmon is an easy and delicious weeknight meal. The marinade infuses the salmon with incredible flavor, while the baking process creates a crispy skin and flaky flesh. Serve it with your favorite sides for a complete and satisfying meal.
