1/2 teaspoon salt
fresh ground black pepper, to taste
1/3 cup freshly shredded parmesan cheese

Tips:

  • Choose the right fennel: Look for bulbs that are firm and have no blemishes. The fronds should be green and feathery.
  • Trim the fennel properly: Cut off the root end and any tough outer leaves. Slice the fennel bulb lengthwise into quarters or eighths, depending on the size.
  • Roast the fennel at a high temperature: This will help to caramelize the sugars in the fennel and give it a slightly sweet and smoky flavor.
  • Season the fennel generously: Salt, pepper, and olive oil are all essential seasonings for roasted fennel. You can also add other herbs and spices, such as garlic, thyme, or rosemary.
  • Roast the fennel until it is tender: The fennel should be tender but still slightly crisp. This usually takes about 20-25 minutes.
  • Serve the fennel immediately: Roasted fennel is best served hot out of the oven. You can garnish it with grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, or a squeeze of lemon juice.

Conclusion:

Roasted fennel is a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of meals. It is a good source of vitamins and minerals, and it is also low in calories and fat. If you are looking for a healthy and flavorful way to add more vegetables to your diet, roasted fennel is a great option.
