I found this years ago in a recipe book made by a local church auxiliary. I make it and use it as a dressing for pasta salad or tomato and cucumber Greek salad. I usually mix a day ahead and the flavors taste 100 times better!

GARLIC AND HERB BUTTERMILK DRESSING RECIPE

Garlic And Herb Buttermilk Dressing Recipe image

Provided by sulli5301

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 cups real mayonnaise
2 Tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped and divided
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
1 Tbsp flat leaf parsley, chopped
2 tsp sea salt or kosher salt
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1-2 tsp fresh lemon juice
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/8 tsp dried dill weed or 1/2 tsp fresh

Steps:

  • Whisk together the buttermilk and mayonnaise, then add the rest of the ingredients and seasonings. Whisk the mixture until the ingredients are fully incorporated and no lumps remain. When chopping the fresh chives and parsley, I recommend that you finely chop them so they'll incorporate evenly and the flavors will be released into the dressing. Reserve 1 tsp of the chopped chives for garnishing the top. Chill well for at least 4 hours before serving. Yield: Approx. 2 1/2 cups

Tips:

  • Use fresh herbs for the best flavor. If you don't have fresh herbs on hand, you can use dried herbs, but use half the amount since they are more concentrated.
  • Taste the dressing before serving and adjust the seasonings as needed. You may want to add more or less garlic, herbs, or lemon juice, depending on your personal preference.
  • This dressing can be used on a variety of salads, including green salads, pasta salads, and potato salads. It can also be used as a marinade for chicken, fish, or vegetables.
  • The dressing can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Be sure to shake the dressing before using.
  • Serve the dressing at room temperature for the best flavor.

Conclusion:

This garlic herb dressing is a versatile and flavorful dressing that can be used on a variety of salads, marinades, and more. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own personal preferences. So next time you're looking for a delicious and healthy dressing, give this garlic herb dressing a try. You won't be disappointed!
