Tips for Making Flavored Seasoned Salt:
- Use a variety of herbs and spices: The more variety you use, the more complex and flavorful your salt will be. Choose herbs and spices that you think will complement each other well.
- Start with a small batch: This will allow you to experiment with different combinations of herbs and spices without wasting a lot of salt. Once you've found a combination that you like, you can scale up the recipe to make a larger batch.
- Use fresh herbs and spices whenever possible: Fresh herbs and spices have a more intense flavor than dried ones. If you're using dried herbs and spices, use about twice as much as you would fresh.
- Toast your herbs and spices: Toasting brings out the flavor of the herbs and spices and makes them more aromatic. You can toast them in a skillet over medium heat for a few minutes, or in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes.
- Grind your salt and herbs and spices finely: This will help them blend together more evenly and make the salt easier to use.
- Store your flavored seasoned salt in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. It will keep for up to 6 months.
Conclusion:
Flavored seasoned salt is a versatile and easy way to add flavor to your favorite dishes. It's perfect for sprinkling on grilled meats, fish, vegetables, and salads. You can also use it as a rub for chicken, pork, or beef. With so many different combinations of herbs and spices to choose from, you're sure to find a flavored seasoned salt that you'll love.
