MAGIC FINGER JELLO

Magic Finger Jello image

The only Jello finger recipe my mom ever used... and after trying many, it's the one that's worked best for me! (*Note: Cooking Time is chilling time*)

Provided by KindergartenMom

Categories     Gelatin

Time 2h15m

Yield 1 8x8 pan, 10-12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 (1 tablespoon) packages unflavored gelatin
1 (6 ounce) package Jello gelatin
2 1/2 cups water

Steps:

  • Dissolve unflavoured gelatin in one cup of cold water. Set aside.
  • In saucepan bring one cup of water to a boil and add Jello. Bring back to a boil and then remove from heat.
  • Add gelatin mixture to hot Jello mixture. Stir and add 1/2 cup cold water.
  • Pour into a greased pan, cover with plastic wrap, and set aside in fridge until solid.
  • Cut into squares or use cookie cutters to make interesting shapes.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • Note: each season it's fun to make these different colours and shapes. In our family we make green and red Jello Fingers at Christmas, at Valentine's Day red heart-shaped ones, St. Patrick's Day green clovers, Halloween orange circles (you can make into jack-o-lanterns) - it's fun for the kids and the Mom and Dad!
  • (This recipe is ideal for an 8x8 pan, but for really little kids it's great if you've got a 9x13 as it makes them thinner.).

OVER 21 FINGER JELLO SHOTS

From Cooks.com. Note: Do not boil alcohol or add alcohol to boiling water, or it will no longer be alcoholic. Warning: Because finger jello takes longer to digest than liquid, the effects of the alcohol may not be felt until later than normal. Guests should take care to not eat too many. Cooking time is chill time.

LAYERED FINGER JELLO

Yield 8-12 people

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 small boxes of Jello, any flavor
4 envelopes of Knox Gelatin
4 cups boiling water
2 c. heavy cream

Steps:

  • Combine 1 box Jello and 1 packet gelatin in bowl. Dissolve in boiling water. Add 1/2 c. heavy cream and stir until well mixed. Pour into a 9x13-inch pan and refrigerate 20-30 minutes. Repeat with second box of jello, letting the mixture cool a few minutes before carefully pouring the warm mixture over the top of the set jello. Repeat with third and then fourth box of jello. Chill until well set. Cut into finger-sized pieces and serve!

Tips:

  • Choose the right gelatin: Unflavored gelatin is the best choice for finger jello because it allows you to control the flavor and sweetness of the final product. Look for gelatin that is made from 100% beef or pork skin, as this will give the jello a more robust flavor and texture.
  • Use fresh fruit juice: Fresh fruit juice will give your finger jello a more intense flavor than store-bought juice. If you don't have fresh fruit juice on hand, you can use frozen or canned fruit juice, but be sure to dilute it with water according to the package directions.
  • Sweeten to taste: Finger jello is traditionally made with sugar, but you can also use honey, maple syrup, or another sweetener of your choice. Start with a small amount of sweetener and add more to taste.
  • Chill thoroughly: Finger jello needs to be chilled for at least 4 hours, or overnight, before serving. This will give the gelatin time to set and firm up.
  • Garnish with fresh fruit: Fresh fruit is a delicious and colorful way to garnish finger jello. You can use any type of fruit that you like, but berries, grapes, and citrus fruits are popular choices.

Conclusion:

Finger jello is a classic dessert that is easy to make and fun to eat. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious and refreshing treat that is perfect for any occasion. So next time you're looking for a fun and easy dessert, give finger jello a try.
