"This chowder is full flavored and so comforting," says Lisa Renshaw of Kansas City, Missouri. We couldn't agree more! Leftover ham and veggies add body, while Gouda cheese brings a special touch.

FARMHOUSE HAM AND VEGETABLE CHOWDER
I found this soup really tastey with lots of bits of corn and ham. Great meal for one of those chilly night and a great use for left over ham. Tastes even better the next day.

Steps:
- Combine soup, ham, corn, potato, bell pepper and thyme in slow-cooker; mix well.
- Cover; cook on LOW 6-8 Hours or on HIGH 3-4 hours.

- Note: I added the milk early and bumped up the amount of milk to 1 Cup.
Tips:
- Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, flavorful ingredients will make a big difference in the taste of your chowder. Look for thick, meaty ham, fresh vegetables, and a flavorful broth.
- Don't overcrowd the pot: If you add too many ingredients to the pot, the chowder will be too thick and pasty. Add the ingredients in batches, and cook until each batch is tender before adding the next.
- Simmer, don't boil: Bring the chowder to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for at least 30 minutes. This will allow the flavors to meld and develop.
- Season to taste: Taste the chowder and adjust the seasonings as needed. You may need to add more salt, pepper, or herbs.
- Serve with your favorite toppings: Farmhouse ham chowder is delicious served with a dollop of sour cream, a sprinkle of chives, or a crusty piece of bread.
Conclusion:
Farmhouse ham chowder is a hearty, flavorful soup that is perfect for a cold winter day. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With its smoky ham flavor, creamy texture, and fresh vegetables, farmhouse ham chowder is a surefire hit with the whole family.
